Daneel Irons

Daneel has created the life she wants by surrounding herself with freinds, going to church and only taking jobs that fit her ideal. Did we mention this girl’s also on a billboard? That’s right! Check out the picture below and try to spot it aroung town (she didn’t tell us before she came to the shoot that she’s a successful model). You’re an actor, where do you act?
I act with my company Drop Cloth Improve. We preform the first monday of every month at the Axis Cafe on 10349 Jasper Avenue.
Who are you?
I’m a saskatchewan girl who likes football (she’s part of roughrider pride!).
Where do you see your self in 10 years?
With lots of babies (laughing).
How many kid’s would you like to have?
2 or 3
Describe your prefect bite.
It would probably be my mom’s lasagna with spinich and cottage cheese. Or a spicy tuna roll.
You’re a live music booking agent so how do people get in contact with you?
They can email me at Daneel[at]Axiscafe[dot]com and send me a sample so I can listen to them.
Do you have any advice for artists just starting out?
Build relationships with as many people as you can, do collaborations and bring in the best crowd you can. Above all take pride in what you do. If you’re not sure of who your fanbase is be an opener and collaborate.
What’s the one thing people can appreciate about you?
I’m not easily offended.
Where are you coming from today?
I came from my friend’s bed.
Where are you going next?
I’m going to hang around the farmers market, get some good organic coffee and go to lululemon.
What’s the most embarassing thing that’s ever happened to you?
I really suck at spitting. I can’t spit. If I try to spit it ends up on my shirt.
What has been your most significant moment so far?
I have a theatre school where I teach kids to act. Last year in their final production I saw just how much they had grown, how confident they were and how proud they were. That was really significant to me. That made me realize how much value there is in taking time to work with kids.
How do people sign their children up for your theatre school?
They can goto my website www.Daneeel.ca and go to the followSpot page.
You also said you run a blog and host a podcast about the Edmonton art scene. Tell us more about that.
It’s called prairie belles and we post every Thursday. It lets you know about art events that are coming to Edmonton the following weekend. We give you a top three list of shows for Friday and Saturday and a rundown of plays that are showing during the week.
We’re pretty happy to hear about your blog. Edmonton really needs a page like this.
It’s true, we’ve only done four episodes so far so we’re pretty new. It’s a helpful service because Edmonton has such a great art’s scene but not enough people know where to find the information we provide. I see so many great artists all the time at the Cafe and I know how much new talent there is so I just think it’s imporant that we start working harder to get the word out about those people. It’s also important to let people know that they don’t need to save up for the big acts that come to Edmonton but instead they can see great live music every weekend.
Any last words?
Thank you for letting me be a part of your project.
Thank you Daneel.
